VOICES OF DZOGCHEN

About the Course

Write your awesome label here.
In the profound Dzogchen tradition, some of the most transformative moments of learning occur when we hear directly from highly realized practitioners who share from their decades of deep practice and direct realization, guiding us to go beyond surface-level understanding. Hearing these masters discuss recognizing mind’s pure awareness amidst the challenges of the modern world provides a living transmission — bringing the view of Dzogchen straight into our hearts.
Voices of Dzogchen offers live webinars with prominent Buddhist teachers who embody the Dzogchen tradition: Mingyur Rinpoche, Erik Pema Kunsang, Richard Barron (Lama Chökyi Nyima), and Sangye Khandro. Tergar guides Cortland Dahl and Antonia Sumbundu will further support your journey with live sessions, guided meditations, and discussion forums. Together as a community, we’ll explore how to apply these teachings in our daily lives, making them a lived experience.
These conversations serve as the perfect introductory gateway to Tergar’s year-long offering of teachings and retreats. Depending on your personal practice path, this course will prepare you to transition into either the Dorje Drolö Dzogchen immersion (for those who have received pointing out instructions) or our 11-month program on the bardo teachings, which is open to everyone. Whichever path you choose, Voices of Dzogchen is a wonderful course to inspire the upcoming year of practice.

THE JOURNEY AHEAD

Course Outline & Schedule

This course consists of four live webinars with Mingyur Rinpoche and guest teachers, and a concluding webinar with Tergar guides, each clarifying different practices within the Dzogchen tradition.

Fearless Wisdom:

An Introduction to Dzogchen

with Mingyur Rinpoche
August 1, 10 AM US ET (New York)
Mingyur Rinpoche will lead a special kickoff webinar to launch a historic, year-long transmission of Dzogchen instructions. Drawn from the Dzogchen text The Heart Essence of the Primordial Secret, this cycle of teachings offers a direct guide to discovering our indestructible nature — a state of fearless, unimpeded presence available in any moment. This webinar is an introductory overview of this Dzogchen view, and a roadmap for the transformative year of study and practice to come.

Voices of Dzogchen:

Erik Pema Kunsang

Interviewed by Cortland Dahl
August 5, 10 AM US ET (New York)
Erik Pema Kunsang is a Danish translator and teacher who has translated over sixty volumes of Tibetan Buddhist texts. For over forty years he served as translator and close student of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. His accessible language and direct style have shaped how seminal works on Mahamudra and Dzogchen are studied in the West. He cofounded Rangjung Yeshe Publications and the Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Nepal, and he now guides practitioners through retreats at Gomde Denmark.

Voices of Dzogchen:

Richard Barron (Lama Chökyi Nyima)

Interviewed by Cortland Dahl
August 12, 10 AM US ET (New York)
Richard Barron is a Canadian translator who specializes in the Dzogchen writings of Longchenpa. He has served as an interpreter for many lamas from all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism, including his first teacher, Kalu Rinpoche. He completed a traditional three-year retreat in 1980 at Kagyu Ling in France and later became a close student of the late Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche. His published translations include Buddhahood without Meditation, The Autobiography of Jamgön Kongtrul, and several of the Seven Treasuries of Longchenpa.

Voices of Dzogchen:

Sangye Khandro

Interviewed by Antonia Sumbundu
August 19, 10 AM US ET (New York)
Sangye Khandro is one of the pioneering Western translators of Tibetan Buddhist texts and a respected teacher in the Nyingma tradition. She has trained closely with great masters such as Dudjom Rinpoche, Penor Rinpoche, and Gyatrül Rinpoche. With Lama Chönam, she translated Jigme Lingpa's Yeshe Lama, the seminal practice manual of the Great Perfection, along with many other essential Dzogchen texts. She cofounded Light of Berotsana, a translation organization, and continues to teach and translate extensively in the U.S. and beyond.

Closing Webinar & Overview of the Upcoming Courses

with Cortland Dahl and Antonia Sumbundu, together with Kasumi Kato and Tim Olmsted
August 26, 10 AM US ET (New York)
In this session, Tergar guides reflect on the Voices of Dzogchen conversations and introduce the two 11-month journeys ahead. Cortland and Antonia will share an overview of the Dorje Drolö Dzogchen immersion, which they’ll support with live sessions throughout the year. Kasumi and Tim will offer an introduction to the bardo program, which they’ll guide throughout its duration with live sessions, practice support, and community discussion.

Every Tuesday, 10 AM US ET (New York)

Your essence, and the essence of every living creature, is pure, whole, and complete. There’s nothing missing, and that’s why we call it the Great Perfection. YOU are the Great Perfection. Don’t forget that. Dzogchen is talking about you. This Great Perfection is you right now, right here in this moment, not some fully developed you after you do a lot more meditation.
